Espeletia II
TITLE
Espeletia II - fermented spirulina anthotype
YEAR
2026
CATEGORY
Photography, anthotype
MEDIUM
Fermented fresh spirulina anthotype
DIMENSIONS
39 x 30 cm
This luminous artifact is made of bioplastic with coffee residue and river stones. The light it emits passes through a materiality that holds within itself the gesture of water: coffee, once liquid, and stone, shaped over years by the current, are now fixed in a new form that still remembers its fluid origin.
The work explores how light can become a bridge toward what is far away. Just as water moves, transforms, and returns in other cycles, the artifact's light proposes a connection with what cannot be touched directly: a distant river, a spring, a memory of water. To turn on the artifact is, in that sense, a gesture of approach: a way of rethinking oneself through what flows, even though the object itself remains still.
In the matter—transformed residue, stone stilled, light switched on—dwells that tension between the fixed and the fluid, between the near and the distant, which is also a way of inhabiting water from its absence.
